Back ground information of farmer/technology
Mr. Hajabhai Ranabhai Parmar lives in Kanjotar village of Taluka Sutrapada, District Gir Somnath. Since last 35 years, he is doing agriculture with different agricultural interventions. The Kanjotar village of this farmer is situated at very near to sea of sutrapada Taluka in District Gir Somnath. In this area, there is the problem of salts in soils as well as in irrigation water. That’s why farmers could not grow crops very well in other than rainy season. In this area, majority of farmers follows groundnut-wheat cropping pattern and groundnut gives higher production by rain water. In winter season, wheat crop with poor quality of irrigation water creates poor germination, tillering, yellowing, logging and also use of more number of irrigation due to poor quality of water.
KVK-Junagadh introduced this wheat variety (KRL-19) which is very good salt tolerant and farmers are growing /grown this variety successfully in present water and soil conditions. The variety KRL 19 is tolerant to salt up to 7.3 dS/m Electrical Conductivity and up to 9.3 pH.
Efforts of KVK
He closely associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Junagadh through different extension activities including FLDs & OFTs etc since 2012 and got optimum farm income through guidance given by KVK Scientists. In this context, farmer Shri. Hajabhai Ranabhai Parmar sowed 1 acre wheat var. KRL-19 under FLD with guidance of SMS-Agronomy and Soil Science (Dr. A. D. Rathod & Mr. S. T. Hadiyal). This salt tolerant wheat variety resulted higher production than existing variety of wheat GW-496 & GW-366.
Impact of the innovation on farmers in terms if economic as well as social aspects
In 1 acre sown area of wheat variety KRL-19 produced higher yield than existing variety and farmer Shri Hajabhai satisfied with their production due to their problem like germination, yellowing, logging, and use of more number of irrigations. He is presently growing this variety every year and also providing the same germplasm to other farmers.
Every year he is growing this variety since our inception. In last season, he grows 9 hector sowing of this variety satisfactorily. In every season, Hajabhai selling this wheat variety seeds to other farmers of this village as well as neighboring farmers to gain more profit.

Title : Success of Wota-T trap with Lucin lure for controlling Fruit & shoot borer in brinjal

Ramabhai Arjanbhai Kamaliya. Village: Dhamlej, Ta: Sutrapada, Dist: Gir Somnath. Experience: 15 years with farming (Mainly vegetable cultivation)
Cultivation of Brinjal with use of wota t trap and lucin lure and use of bio pesticides and bio fertilizers. Last 5 year associated with KVK-Junagadh’s different activities. Presently, earning maximum income from vegetable cultivation especially brinjal production by maximum use of bio pesticides and bio fertilizers due to guidance given by SMS-Plant Protection (Mr. Ramesh Rathod) of KRL 19 Local Variety 67 KVK. In 1 acre area, yielded 112 quintal brinjal and sold @ Rs. 400/- per quintal. Hence, received gross income Rs. 44,800/- and cost of cultivation in one acre was Rs.6925/-. So, he earned net profit Rs.37,875/-.
Efforts of KVK
Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Junagadh assessed this problem in PRA. Thereafter, for severe attack of fruit and shoot borer in brinjal have been checked by this cost effective technology in brinjal grower area. This cased farmer was not known about this technology before KVK’s intervention. But since last 7 years, KVK disseminated this technology through FLD programme and found very significant result. That’s why brinjal cultivator are demanding more and more for this eco friendly technology to local agro dealers as well as at KVK agro-mall.

Cultivation of Brinjal by use of Wota T Trap and lucin lure with use of bio pesticides & bio fertilizers gave very good production with reduced chemical pesticides residual effect. Presently, about 70% vegetable growers (brinjal) are using this technology and benefiting by them.
