  1. Entrepreneurship through beekeeping

Ram Jethabhai Mulabhai is farmers of Chamoda village, Taluka Veraval, Dist. Gir Somnath.  He got primary education in his own village and secondary and high secondary from the nearby Ghusiya village. After completion of graduation in drawing from the Ahmedabad. After study he joined his family's profession i.e. agriculture.

With doing farming he got an idea to club honeybee rearing with agriculture therefore, in the year 2020 he got a training from Krishi Vigayn Kendra, Kodinar on scientific honey bee rearing. After that he started commercial unit of honeybee cultivation with 40 boxes and got success. Further, he expand it up to 80 boxes and he started selling of raw honey @Rs. 600/- per Kg. with the technical guidance and support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Ambuja Cement Foundation with the brand “Madhuvan”.

Current year, he sold 600 Kg. honey and also sell 50 honey bee box @ Rs. 4000/- per box he also give the honey boxes to farmers on rent basis @Rs. 1500/-. Net profit for the year 2022 is ₹ 480000/-.

 

 

  1. Mushroom cultivation as a profitable business

 

Mr. Rohit Babubhai Solanki is farmers of Shemaliya village, Taluka Talala, Dist.  Gir Somnath

He is a small farmer having 2.5 acre of land and mostly cultivates wheat, sugarcane and groundnut.

He came in contact with Kirshi Vigyan Kendra Junagadh; and got the information about mushroom cultivation as a profitable business there after he participated in training cum exposure programme on mushroom cultivation. After successful participation in the above programme he got motivation and started a small mushroom cultivation unit by utilizing agriculture waste as a supplementary business at his home.

At initial phase he purchase 56 kg seeds/spawn of mushroom and prepare 617 bags & started cultivation. In first phase he got 527 kg mushroom (Pearl Oyster) production, due to less demand of the mushroom in our area he started its value addition by making powder with technical support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. He started mushroom powder and sold out 12 kg. Initially @ ₹ 2000/-.

 

In second phase he also used social media platform as well as participated in mega event of KVK for creating awareness among the society about benefits of mushroom and sold 16 kg of mushroom powder worth ₹ 32000/- in 4 months.
