KVK also transferring latest agricultural technology through social media Whatsapp, Facebook, “Agri Info” Face book page, YouTube Chanel “KVK Junagadh” and we also providing solutions of agricultural related problems of farmers through our KVK’s mobile application “KVK Girsomnath”.
KVK is also having a community radio station namely Lokvani Radio 90.4 FM, It’s coverage about 12-15 Km. radius. Approx 60 villages of our district comes under its coverage range. Programmes based on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, natural resource management, farm machinery, fisheries, education, health, environment, weather advisory, disaster management and market rate of agricultural commodities.
- Promotion of Agri Drone Technology
- ICAR sanctioned drone for our KVK with the total budget of Rs. 17.50 Lakh for it’s promotion among the farmers.
- Our two scientists got special training and became license holding drone pilots.
- We purchased the drone with accessories and demonstrated this for nutrient application
- Application of Drone reduces up to 15% chemical as well as it’s also save approx. 85% to 90% spraying time.
- Main advantage of Agri drone are; reduce overuse of chemical application, crop stage, health and growth monitoring, also use in wild species plantation and easy to collect soil field data for analyses.
- Every year we will do drone demonstration in approximate 200 acres (Nutrients- Nano urea and DAP, recommended pesticides) in various crops on the need basis.
1. FPO at KVK premise
Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) is one of the important initiatives taken by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture to mainstream the idea of promoting and strengthening member-based institution of farmers. The year 2014 was declared as the “Year of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) by the Government of India. The need to organize farmers, especially the small holders, is a well-established reality. The key purpose to organize a FPO is to bring small and marginal farmers together for ensuring forward and backward linkages, thus enabling the supply of quality inputs such as seeds, planting material, organic and inorganic sources of fertilizers, agricultural credit, crop insurance, technical knowhow and other essential extension service and also to ensure effective forward linkages such as bulking of the produce, collective marketing, processing and market led agriculture production with an overall objective of ensuring a better collective bargaining power for the small farmers.
Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), NABARD, SFPC provides support to promote FPO. Producer Organization is a generic name of an organization of producers of any produce, i.e. agricultural, non-agricultural and artisan products, etc. The day to day operation of the FPO is expected to be managed by a group of professionals, hired from outside, under the direction of the Board of Directors elected or selected by the General body of the FPO for a specific tenure. Since farmers or the producers are the equity holders of the FPO, a FPO as an organization provides an appropriate framework for owning the company by the farmers themselves.
